Since the beginning of the war it seems we are all living on adrenaline. We do not sleep well, do not breathe deeply, eat too much or forget to eat properly, and some of us even returned to smoking. Stress has become routine, and although studies have not yet pointed to a direct link between stress and wrinkles, the three dermatologists we met agree: When we are under prolonged pressure, it is completely noticeable on the face.
“From a scientific perspective, it cannot be said that periods of stress cause people to wrinkle more, but there is no doubt that people who do not feel well look less good,” says Dr. Marina Landau, a specialist in dermatology and aesthetics. “If someone is under stress, starts smoking or stops eating and as a result loses weight, this will of course affect skin quality and increase the visibility of wrinkles.”
Dr. Michal Benkler, a plastic surgeon, also describes a similar phenomenon: “During stress we tend to frown, contract the eyebrows, and this emphasizes existing wrinkles. Beyond that, worry and anxiety greatly harm the quality of the skin.”
Of course, the first way to deal with the situation is first of all to take care of ourselves: Drinking plenty of water, proper nutrition, sufficient sleep, and more. But if it feels that this is not enough, it is possible to treat the appearance and texture of the skin also with aesthetic treatments.
Israeli technology
An innovative formula based on hyaluronic acid, developed with Nobel Prize-winning technology, is supposed to be one of the answers to the situation. HALLURA, from Alma, is not only intended for restoring volume but also for overall improvement of skin quality and texture, achieving natural and harmonious results that blend perfectly with facial features.
“This is hyaluronic acid developed in Israel and based on innovative technology,” explains Dr. Landau. “It can be used to fill wrinkles and improve or restore volume, and it also performs biostimulation and improves skin quality.”
Dr. Michal Benkler also emphasizes the advantages of combining treatments: “I like to combine laser, which performs controlled injury and causes the skin to renew itself, with the formula that combines hyaluronic acid and gives us a visible change to the eye, immediately calming, and also does biostimulation and essentially causes the skin to produce natural collagen and elastin, as a result of which the quality and texture of the skin improve. The synergy of all these things allows us to treat the texture and quality of the skin in the best and most correct way.”
“In stressful times it is fine to give ourselves time, but it is worth trying to stick to some kind of skin care routine. It will help us both look better and feel better,” concludes Dr. Lavit Ackerman. “When we look in the mirror and see ourselves looking tired, it increases the inner feeling of fatigue that we already have anyway. I recommend not neglecting, not waiting for a special event or for the skin to sag.”
