A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly pelting an elderly rabbi with chicken bones in London, according to the Hackney Police and Jewish neighborhood watch London North and East Shomrim.

The 41-year-old suspect approached a 77-year-old rabbi while the victim was entering a Stamford Hill pharmacy last week.

Shomrim said that he hurled abuse at the elderly man. A video published on X/Twitter by the Jewish neighborhood watch group showed the man eating from a box of chicken and throwing the remains at the victim. Eventually, he threw the box at him as well.

'A deranged individual's unprovoked assault'

The alleged antisemitic attack was “completely unprovoked,” according to the Shomrim, who also called the suspect “a deranged individual.”

The rabbi was reportedly left traumatized by the incident.

Hackney Police said on X that the suspect was arrested on suspicion of a religiously aggravated offense. The Metropolitan Police had no updates on the case as of Thursday.
