The 47-year-old woman and 46-year-old man arrested last Wednesday, the same day as they attempted to set alight the Finchley Reform Synagogue, were also put on bail until July.

The lower high street shop was also vandalized with graffiti and is being treated as religiously aggravated. Police appealed to the public for witnesses or any security footage of the incident.

Seven of the arrests were made in the past 48 hours and relate to a suspected conspiracy to commit arson, though the specific target or venue has not yet been identified.

A 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were taken into custody overnight in connection with the incident, which occurred early on Sunday morning, the police said.

A pro-Iranian government group, which says it is also behind a spate of attacks across Europe on US, Israeli and Jewish targets, has said it was responsible.

“While the Embassy of Israel was not attacked, we continue to work closely with the Embassy and its security team to keep the site safe and secure," a commander of counter-terrorism policing said.

Police confirmed that the embassy has not been attacked and they are carrying out "urgent inquiries."

The attempted arson occured on Wednesday when an ignited container was thrown towards the unnamed media organization in Wembley. No damage or injuries were reported.
