Members of the Christian community have been arbitrarily detained, with their families extorted for payments in exchange for their release, the Christian Solidarity International report claimed.

Police raided the daycare center in late April and said they found dozens of children aged between two and six years old with their hands and feet tied. Some children were tied to doors.

In 2025, the Syrian Feminist Lobby documented 82 abduction cases across the Syrian coast, western Hama countryside, and Homs. Some 10% were girls, while 90% were women aged 15 to 40.

Francis Achile was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault by beating, racially aggravated harassment, and racially aggravated assault.
