Beijing has condemned US tariffs on drones and components, accusing Washington of discriminating against Chinese products and harming Chinese companies.

Trump added in a social media post that the Keystone XL pipeline, which former president Joe Biden canceled in 2021 after years of opposition, "may be awoken from the grave," but offered no details.

A 15% tariff will be imposed on drones and components from the European Union, Japan, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Switzerland, and Taiwan.

Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney's remarks came as US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said he hoped to strike interim trade deals with Mexico and Canada this year.

The Trump administration has long complained that Canada and China implemented retaliatory measures in response to the barrage of tariffs Trump has tried to impose since returning to the White House.

"If [the population] goes above 10 million, it will become tight, and immigration should be restricted," said Helen Gulea, a 58-year-old in Zurich, originally from Kenya.

While most countries ban slavery, they seemingly don’t ban imports from other countries where slavery may exist. Such imports allegedly lead to unfair exports to the US.

Temporary deals on tariffs, rare earths, and diplomatic language may give both leaders short-term wins while leaving deeper conflicts untouched.

Chinese exporters said they are no longer intimidated by Trump’s tariff threats ahead of his Beijing visit, pointing to resilient supply chains and global growth.

Last year, President Donald Trump signed a bill that required the Pentagon to come up with a plan by 2027 for ending reliance on China, Russia, and other adversaries for the technology.
