The Police issued a statement saying the attack was being treated as a terrorist incident and officers were investigating whether the attack deliberately targeted the Jewish community.

A fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old pizzeria worker in Petah Tikva follows a dispute with teens over snow spray on Independence Day. The worker was critically injured and later died at the hospital.

The victim was identified as a prominent rabbi associated with the Shas movement who chairs the local religious council.

Close to midnight, police received a report that the victim had been attacked as he exited a restaurant. Police arrived at the scene and caught the two suspects a few streets away from the incident.
