Mayor Eduardo Martinez of Richmond, California, reposted conspiracy theories that claimed the Bondi Beach attack on a Hanukkah celebration was a “false flag” perpetrated by Israel.

Following the incident, a complaint was filed with local law enforcement, and the Greek fan who assaulted Ofer Yanai was arrested.

The suspects were named as Waleed Khan, 26, Osman Azizov, 18, and Fahad Sadaat, 19. 

Mamdani released a statement of his own, saying that “Catherine expressed her deep remorse over her past statements and tendered her resignation, and I accepted."

The Antisemitism Response and Prevention Act would require a range of policy measures, including fully funding the federal Office for Civil Rights.

Australia’s experience points to a measured conclusion. A definition can help societies name antisemitism clearly and consistently. It cannot, on its own, prevent violence.

Samuel Williams, 20, was originally arrested on October 15 after videos of him circulated online chanting, “Gaza, Gaza, make us proud; put the Zios in the ground.”
