NCSC encouraged organizations to prepare to respond to Iran-linked hacktivists by reading previously issued advisories on DDoS attacks, phishing activity and ICS Targeting.

The announcement, published on social media channels, is a clear declaration of intent to expand the conflict into the cyber domain.

Critical infrastructure, official news sites, and security communications systems reportedly stopped functioning, leaving the leadership in a communications blackout at home and abroad.

It is not clear who is responsible for the hack, with one of the messages reading “Help has arrived,” an apparent reference to a message issued by US President Donald Trump in January 2026.

Anthropic emphasized that the danger of illicit distillation is not just a business one, but could also become a national security concern. 

Attackers also exploited AI technologies to develop complex offensive tools, a significant advancement in terrorist groups' methods and capabilities.

According to Radware’s 2026 Global Cyber Threat Report, there was a 168% surge in DDoS attacks and an increase of more than 120% in application-layer attacks.

The cyberattacks involve “targeted phishing,” in which attackers impersonate familiar figures to lure victims into revealing personal information or downloading malicious files.

"I feel there is a need for teaching people digital self-defense, teaching people critical skills to understand what's fake, what's real, what should be shared, what shouldn't," Elazari said.
