Birthright

Taglit-Birthright Israel, known colloquially as Birthright, is an organization that sponsors all-expense-paid trips to Israel for Jews living across the diaspora.

Participants must be fully vaccinated with two or three shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or with one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, to join a Birthright trip.

The scheduled Birthright trips were cancelled due to tightening quarantine restrictions for travelers entering Israel.

'I have been waiting for almost two years to go on my Birthright trip,' a participant from Paris said. 'I am excited to learn about this land and meet wonderful people.'

“When I face antisemitism, I know that I am part of this legacy and this nation. And I know that in the worst possible case scenario, I always have a home as a Jewish person.”

The program invited 56 students and entrepreneurs to Israel for this year's program, after sifting through thousands of applicants from around the world.

Although foreign tourism hasn’t fully opened in Israel, Birthright Israel CEO Gidi Mark has told me that allowing Birthright Israel visits is seen as a national priority.
