A Hamas terrorist crossed Gaza's Yellow Line and surrendered to IDF soldiers on Saturday, a US official told CBS News.
The report did not specify where the incident occurred along the ceasefire line.
The terrorist told the IDF that Hamas recently recruited him, but he regrets his choice to join the terror group, the official told CBS.
"Gazans know there can be no future under Hamas," the US State Department's Office Bureau of Near Eastern commented on X/Twitter.
"Gaza can be an incredible place but it must first be free of terror and terrorists," the department added.
The report did not clarify events following the terrorist's surrender or whether he was detained for questioning.
IDF kills three suspected terrorists crossing Yellow Line
The IDF killed three suspects who crossed the Yellow Line zone in the southern Gaza Strip on Saturday, the military confirmed.
In the first incident, two suspects crossed who were said to have been carrying out suspicious activities on the ground, the IDF said. The two men were approaching the soldiers before they were shot dead.
In the second incident, a terrorist was killed after he crossed the Yellow Line to approach soldiers.
