Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the winners of the 2026 Security Prize, among them being a system that was key during Operation Roaring Lion against Iran, a classified Mossad asset, a breakthrough in the Ofek satellite array, a new development by Unit 81, and electronic warfare systems that became key to Israel's air superiority.

All the winning projects, which are shrouded in secrecy due to their classified nature, offer a glimpse of Israel's technological edge in the military sector.

"The past year has proven to the entire world the tremendous strength of the State of Israel, of the defense establishment and of the Israeli defense industries," Katz said when referring to the winning projects.

"The capabilities, systems and groundbreaking developments that were expressed in the campaign against our enemies - and hit and destroyed our enemies in Iran, Lebanon, Gaza and other arenas - have given the State of Israel unprecedented operational, intelligence and technological superiority," he added.

The prize will be awarded during an official ceremony at the President's Office with the participation of Katz, President Isaac Herzog, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, and Defense Ministry Director General Amir Baram.

Israel's Security Award winners for 2026

The new weapons system awarded was "key during the last campaign against Iran," with it being developed and manufactured exclusively in Israel. The project will receive recognition alongside the Israel Air Force and Rafael Advanced Systems.

The Mossad, along with Israel Aerospace Industries and the air force, will be recognized because of another classified system that was key to significantly expanding the Mossad's collection and operational capabilities across a wide range of missions.

The Ofek satellite array, which includes Ofek 13 and Ofek 19, was also recognized by the state as a key technological capability that provided an edge during the recent conflicts. For this, the prize will be awarded to the Missile Systems, Space, and Elta divisions of IAI, as well as to the Space Directorate, the R&D unit at the Defense Ministry's Space and Space Research and Development Division, and Unit 9900 in the IDF's Intelligence Division.

A groundbreaking technological development by Unit 81, which provided complex solutions to a unique operational problem that had long preoccupied the defense system, received further recognition alongside the MMM Division, Unit 8200, the Research Division at the Military Intelligence Directorate, and IAI.

Finally, an electronic warfare system that helped Israel maintain air superiority in all recent campaigns was awarded alongside the R&D unit at the Israel Defense Forces, Rafael, the Air Force, Elbit Systems' Elisra, and Unit 8200.
