Security forces captured a man who was illegally hunting in the West Bank, and fired shots near a checkpoint, on Saturday afternoon, the IDF announced.
The man was arrested in Kfar Saba, the military confirmed, after an hours-long manhunt.
The suspected terrorist incident near a West Bank checkpoint on Saturday morning was actually an incident of illegal hunting, N12 reported.
The IDF originally responded, believing that it was a terrorist incident, noting the sound of gunshots.
The Hashmonaim checkpoint is located near the West Bank city of Modi'in.
The terrorist escaped, the IDF confirmed.
The suspect is alleged to have used a hunting weapon, approximately 700 meters from the fence of the Modi'in Illit settlement, according to N12.
Searching for the West Bank gunman
Military forces searched the area for what was believed to be a terrorist and cordoned off several villages.
Security forces are still pursuing the gunman to confiscate his weapon.
Some 10 Palestinian villages west of Ramallah were cordoned off, according to Al Jazeera.
There were no casualties in the incident.
This is a developing story.
