An American tourist was arrested outside of the IDF's Kirya complex in Tel Aviv on Sunday after taking photos of the surroundings and announcing his intention to carry out a terror attack, N12 News reported on Monday morning.

He was subsequently arrested and reportedly sent for a psychiatric evaluation.

Israel Police confirmed the arrest in its own Monday statement, though it did not name the security site, nationality, or the reason for the tourist's arrest beyond their "suspicious" behavior at the site.

After the arrest, police brought the tourist to the Lev Tel Aviv police station for questioning. He will be brought before the court on Monday, where police will request an extension of his detention.

This is a developing story.
