Shawarma pop-up, Gerti Doner

Ziv Gerti’s roaming meat carnival keeps spreading joy in a random fashion. Which simply means that every time it’s around, we’re around. That’s how it is when you excel.

This time, a collaboration has been woven between Gerti Doner and the Lechem Bait restaurant in Or Yehuda, resulting in no less than a full week (Sunday–Friday, December 28 to January 02, from 10:30) of a huge, kosher, rotating lamb sirloin skewer. Good luck to us all.

Late-night meal, Beit Goldberg

A joyful nostalgic homage, and a much-needed answer to an urban shortage, came together to create a tasty — and late — comeback.

The late-night meal at Beit Goldberg naturally draws inspiration from the fairly legendary deal at Moses, which operated a popular late-hours institution at this very location. Now, “Goldenberg” is being launched — a similar combo meal served between 23:00–01:00 (and on weekends until 02:00), offering either a classic burger (180 grams, confit garlic aioli, red onion, sriracha) or a double smash (with cheddar, caramelized white onion, pickled red onion, pickles, and chipotle aioli), plus a side (fries, onion rings, or “smiley fries”) and a chaser, at a market-breaking price of NIS 49. Yes, we checked.

Winter menu, Capri

The excellent restaurant of the Pomo Group in Glilot heats up the cold season with a DJ, seasonal plates, and an excellent sense of disconnection from its surroundings.

Capri’s winter menu includes, among other things, amberjack and avocado tartare with cherry tomato gazpacho, calamari and corn in crab bisque, mushroom risotto with leek and Parmesan, a “Spicy Solero” cocktail mixing tequila with mango and chili, and also strawberries with mascarpone cream for dessert.

Japanese Fried Toast, Okinawa

The veteran Asian restaurant lands in Tel Aviv one of the sweetest phenomena in the world — literally, of course.

Okinawa’s Japanese toast menu, running until the end of February, does Tokyo and Levontin at the same time — a thick slice of castella bread, deep-frying, and an irresistible combination of crispness and creaminess, crust and filling.

All of this comes together in four decadent — or very decadent — versions: “Strawberry Corruption” (meringue cream, fresh strawberries, and lychee-cassis syrup), choco-banana (Nutella cream, bananas, and salted caramel syrup), “Green Gold” (pistachio cream, kataifi strands, freshly ground pistachio, and pistachio sauce), and “Lemon Kiss” (lemon cream, torched meringue, and vanilla sauce).

Flavors of the East ice cream, Vaniglia and Arkia

A cute and clever collaboration between the airline company and the local ice cream chain has given birth to a new and intriguing series of treats.

The Flavors of the East ice cream by Vaniglia and Arkia was created to mark the opening of the air route to Thailand and Vietnam, and is inspired by it. The series currently includes the “Bangkok Mango Sticky Rice” flavor (fresh Maya mango, coconut, and sticky rice aroma), is expected to expand with a “Hanoi” version in the chain’s colorful display cases, and also adds an extra in the form of a $50 discount voucher for purchases at Arkia.
