Dubai Chocolate, Elite
With significant delay—though self-aware—the local sweets giant joins the global trend (which has already had its moment, cooled down, made a flaming comeback, and is now once again played out).
Elite’s Dubai-style chocolate version is based on milk chocolate, pistachio-flavored cream, and kadaif threads, and it also appeals to the local ultra-Orthodox, kosher-observing public. It’s beautifully designed, with an oriental-Gulf look, and offers three different wrappers for the same bar, along with a successful texture combination and rich flavor. Pistachio, however—and in line with prior expectations—is not actually present here. Instead, it contains hazelnut paste and a flavor range that tries to mimic the greenish hit. It’s a cute option, "Dubai style."
Snacks, Herr
A very late but very welcome arrival brings a large collection of snacks to our shelves, thanks to Leiman Schlussel—and highlights how much we still have to aspire to in life.
The line from Herr, the Pennsylvania-based snack giant that has spent more than eighty years tackling cravings and annoying munchies, currently includes Cheese Curls (the airy, melt-in-your-mouth type, NIS 19.90) in flavors like blue cheese, cheddar, cheddar-jalapeño, and cheddar with spicy honey; Cheese Stix (corn sticks, NIS 22.90) in cheddar flavor; and crispy chips (NIS 5) in sour cream-onion, honey-barbecue, regular barbecue, and basic natural versions. It’s fun, it’s addictive, it’s addictively fun, and there’s no reason—or chance—to resist.
Mango and Melon-Flavored Water, Neviot
The popular series from the local water brand is expanding shelf—and fridge—space just in time for our real heatwave.
The two new additions to Neviot Plus are mineral water drinks in melon and mango flavors, which will be sold as a limited edition in 1.5-liter and 500 ml formats. The sweetness is relatively restrained for the genre, the flavors are present but not aggressive, and overall, it’s a refreshing stopover—and a good start for a successful summer cocktail, if you’re into that (and you are).
Crackers, Dani & Galit with Yeladudes
An inspiring collaboration between the healthy baking brand and the rehabilitative bakery has led to a new product line—and “seeds of hope.”
The new crackers by Dani and Galit (NIS 29–32) were developed and designed at Yeladudes, which operates inside a children's home for at-risk youth at the Neve Hanna Educational Village in Kiryat Gat. They are flour-free and highlight dietary fiber, have a suitable crunch, and come in seeds and seed–za’atar versions (with one of the children’s names featured on the packaging). From there, it’s a short journey to snacking-spreading or a more elaborate pile using them as a base (summer ceviche, anyone?), and since all proceeds go back to supporting this important work, you’ll be swept away by the emotion—and the taste.
Peanut Butter Protein Bar, Today
The British brand, imported by Schestowitz, continues to expand its shelf offerings—this time with a launch as indulgent as it should be.
The new protein bar from Today is part of the brand’s layered series, emphasizing peanut butter flavor and milk chocolate coating—and especially a strong protein (23g) to calorie (200) ratio, relatively speaking. The texture is good, the flavors are indulgent, and it’s easy to imagine many workouts ending exactly like this. Price: NIS 13.90 per unit.
