Mallorca's local police are warning tourists about the serious health risks associated with purchasing illegal beach cocktails at Playa de Palma. Recently, a street vendor was caught tapping drinks from a five-liter canister into plastic cups without any hygienic precautions, raising health concerns, according to Bild.
Officers observed the vendor near the popular clubs Megapark and Bierkönig, where he was seen chopping fruit for drinks directly on the ground of a parking lot without any hygienic measures. "This practice not only constitutes a violation of the sale of alcohol on public streets without a license, for which the vendor was administratively reported, but also poses a potential danger to the health of consumers, as it is carried out without any food controls," the police stated, according to Bild.
The police confiscated the contents of the illegal vendor's stall, issued an administrative offense, and informed the health department for further handling. Beach visitors are being advised to refrain from purchasing Mojitos or Sangria sold by illegal vendors at Playa de Palma, as these drinks pose serious health risks. According to the police, there is no control over the illegal sales: neither the origin nor the cooling of the ingredients is guaranteed.
Several weeks ago, a German tourist drew attention to the unhygienic preparation of cocktails in a viral video that spread rapidly on social networks, drawing attention to questionable practices on Mallorca's beaches. In response, the authorities of the island issued a serious warning to tourists and residents.
Ice and water used in these cocktails could be contaminated. The alcoholic beverages sold by the vendor came from an unmarked five-liter canister, completely without control or traceability of the origin. Authorities pointed out that the hygienic conditions in the preparation of these cocktails are concerning. This lack of supervision makes any sangria or mojito from the hands of unofficial beach vendors a real risk to health.
Playa de Palma, known as the party mecca on Mallorca, has been under observation by the authorities for some time due to serious health risks associated with illegal vendors.
