The Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army carried out airstrikes near Sweida in southern Syria, on Wednesday evening, according to Syrian state-run Al-Ikhbariyah TV.
The airstrikes targeted factories used by smugglers for operations into Jordanian territory, the report added.
The strikes were corroborated by JAF, saying that they targeted a "number of factories and plants that smugglers use as hideouts to launch their operations towards Jordanian territory."
JAF "coordinated the strikes with regional partners," the military added.
Jordanian military kills arms, drugs smugglers along Syrian border region
This announcement follows a statement from JAF earlier on Wednesday confirming that the military killed a "number of arms and drug traffickers" who were "organizing arms and drug smuggling operations along the northern border" between Jordan and Syria.
Jordan was a major route for Syrian arms and drug smugglers during the Syrian Civil War. Since President Ahmed al-Sharaa came to power last December, Damascus has struggled to quash the industry that financed the deposed Assad regime and Hezbollah terrorists operating in Syria.
JAF assisted the US Central Command in conducting strikes on ISIS terrorists in Syria last week.
