Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) protesters blocked the tracks of the Jerusalem Light Rail during a protest on Thursday, Israel Police said.

Jerusalem District police officers and Border Police personnel began to disperse the demonstrators after they began rioting, blocking traffic, and throwing stones, according to N12.

N12 added that one suspect was arrested for throwing stones at police officers and was taken in for questioning at the Lev Habima Police Station.

The protest is one of many demonstrations by ultra-Orthodox individuals in recent months protesting projects to expand light rail routes in Jerusalem.

In late September, five suspects were arrested after blocking the light rail near Haim Bar-Lev and Zaks streets in Jerusalem.
