Zion Miara, husband of Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara, passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 69, after battling ALS, a degenerative and incurable disease, for nearly two decades.

Miara's funeral will be held tomorrow at 11:00 at the Yavne cemetery.

His brother, Rafi Miara, said, “He was supposed to turn 70 in a month. Zion passed away surrounded by his family and caregivers," while his niece Ruthi Rumstein expressed her sadness over her uncle's death on Facebook, adding that he fought ALS for 23 years.

Miara was a former Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) officer who continued working on developing methods to help the organization.
