Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted to the shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner in an X/Twitter post on Sunday, saying he and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, were "shocked" by the attack against US President Donald Trump.

"We are relieved that the President and the First Lady are safe and strong," said Netanyahu. "We send our wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the wounded police officer and salute the US Secret Service for their swift and decisive action."

Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa'ar posted his reaction to X as well, saying Israel stands "shoulder to shoulder" with the United States and President Trump.

"I condemn in the strongest possible terms the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' dinner attended by President Trump," said Sa'ar, adding that he commends US security forces "for their swift action in neutralizing the attacker.

"Zero tolerance for political violence," he concluded.

President Isaac Herzog also posted his reaction to X, saying he is "relieved to hear" that President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were unharmed in the attack.

"We are thankful that the law enforcement officer shot during the attack is safe and on the path of recovery," said Herzog. "From the Holy Land, we pray for the safety and security of the United States of America and its leaders after this heinous attack."

International reactions to the shooting

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted to X that he is "relieved to learn that President Trump, the First Lady, and Vice President are safe and unharmed following the recent security incident at a Washington DC hotel.

"I extend my best wishes for their continued safety and well-being," added Modi. "Violence has no place in a democracy and must be unequivocally condemned."

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on X that he was "deeply shocked" by the attack, adding that he is "relieved to know that President Trump, the First Lady, and other attendees are safe."

"My thoughts and prayers are with him, and I wish him continued safety and well-being," he added.

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader reacted on X as well, expressing his relief that US officials were safe following the "cowardly attack tonight in Washington.

"We applaud the courageous law enforcement officers who detained the gunman, and we pray for the full recovery of the wounded officer," said Abinader. "The prayers of all Dominicans are with the American people."

Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te said on X that he was "shocked and gravely concerned to hear about the gunshots fired at the White House Correspondents’ Gala.

"We are relieved to hear that President Trump and other attendees remain safe from physical harm, and we strongly condemn any form of political violence," he said.
