Albert Morgan, a 41-year-old bussinessman from St. Petersberg, has been arrested on a murder charge after his ex-wife, a flight attendant, was found stabbed to death in a Dubai hotel, according to state-owned Russian outlet RIA Novosti.
“He [Morgan] is a self-employed businessman, and the murdered woman worked as a flight attendant for an airline,” RIA quoted a source familiar with the details as saying. “The couple had been together for several years and lived together in St. Petersburg, but had separated by the time of the tragedy.”
Russian outlet Fontanka detailed physical and financial abuse inflicted upon the woman when she and Morgan had been together.
According to reports, Morgan believed his ex-wife had worked as a "VIP escort" for clients when they had been married.
'I guess this whole situation has finally gotten to me'
“I don’t know how to stop being so scared and nervous now, because I jump away from everyone,” Fontanka wrote, quoting a voice recording the young woman sent a friend before her death. “I have some kind of strange nervous tic on my face, and I don’t let people get close to me at all, and if anyone gets too close, I actually jump away.”
“Anyway, I think it will pass. I guess this whole situation has finally gotten to me.”
Morgan had stalked the young woman for days before murdering her, RIA reported, posing as a guest to gain access to her hotel room before stabbing her 15 times with a pair of scissors.
According to Fontanka, Morgan had enlisted a friend from St. Petersburg to help track her down, though this has reportedly not been officially confirmed by authorities.
Morgan will remain in custody until February 18, the St. Petersburg courts said in a joint statement.
