A serious violent crime occurred in Boden in the north of Sweden on Thursday, according to an article in Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet.

Police were called to investigate a reported attack in a home in central Boden, where they found a 55-year-old woman had been killed with a knife, Aftonbladet reported, adding that two other people were taken to the hospital, at least one of them injured.

Special investigation needed

Information received by Aftonbladet revealed that the police shot and killed the suspected perpetrator, but the police declined to comment. 

Police spokesperson Marie Andersson specified that when police fire live ammunition, it must be investigated by the Special Investigations Department. It must be allowed to run its course; therefore, she could not provide any details about the incident.
