The government approved the appointment of the 2026 health basket committee, with a budget of NIS 650 million, the Health Ministry announced.

The committee will oversee the approval of new medications and technologies, and decide on their inclusion in the new health basket based on clinical and financial criteria. Its first session is scheduled for November 20.

The delay in appointing the committee persisted in recent months due to the lack of a sitting health minister, following MK Haim Katz's failure to be approved by the government amid the ongoing political standoff.

Health Ministry officials told Walla that now that the government has given its approval, the committee will convene in the coming week, alongside subcommittees that have already begun their work.
