Israel Police and volunteers from the Etzion-Yehuda search and rescue squads are conducting searches following concerns that a person was swept away in the Meitar River, police confirmed on Monday afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Authority stated that it had been conducting searches for over an hour, searching the stream and deploying drones for aerial scans downstream.
The concerns follow reports that an individual was seen attempting to retrieve a submerged vehicle before being swept away by the current, according to Walla.
Police close Highway 90, bridge over Route 234 due to flood fears
Police closed parts of Highway 90 on Monday and part of Route 234 on Sunday night due to fears of flooding near Tze'elim.
Highway 90 is closed from Ein Gedi to the Dead Sea hotels in both directions, while Route 234 was closed in the area of Tze'elim Bridge.
