The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have concluded that an adequate fluid intake over a day is around 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) for men and around 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids daily for women. While many of us wish we could get that RDA from sweet coffee drinks or sugary sodas that taste great but don’t do you much good, the scientific facts speak clearly: most of that fluid intake should consist of good, clean water. Even TikTok is getting in on the action with trends like #watertok, encouraging TikTokers to get the water they need daily, but what about the rest of your fluid intake? Which drinks are going to serve your body and taste buds at the same time? These five healthy, delicious drinks are all the rage and perfect for your daily hydration schedule.

Fruit Mocktail

A non-alcoholic cocktail-like drink containing fruit juice, fruit chunks, fruit syrups, and carbonated water or soda.

The Mocktail is hardly a new concept; it is a cocktail drink that contains no alcohol but often appears on the drinks menu at bars and restaurants. Having a drink like this gives those who do not consume alcohol a feeling of being part of a drinks evening or dinner party without having to compromise on their stance. It also provides nutrients and vitamins, if the content includes fresh fruit. According to Andros Professional, a respected fruit wholesaler, you can buy fruit chunks specifically designed for mocktails and cocktails, making it even easier to have them whenever you like. Mocktails have grown in popularity alongside the idea of going alcohol free. A sparkling drink that looks lovely, is photogenic for the Instagram crowd, good for you, and doesn't leave you with a hangover.

Matcha

A green tea powder of Japanese origin. This drink has a slightly bitter and vegetal taste (taste does vary somewhat from brand to brand) and has a characteristically bright green colour thanks to the high levels of chlorophyll in the plants.

Matcha has been used in Japanese tea culture for thousands of years, but only made its very public leap into Western wellness culture a few years ago. If you drink green tea for the antioxidants, matcha will appeal to you for the same reason, except matcha is far more of an antioxidant powerhouse than green tea. This is because the leaves are powdered and remain in the drink rather than traditional green tea products, in which the tea bag or leaves are steeped, then removed before drinking.

Consuming the entire leaf rather than just the water and or milk it's been steeped in brings many benefits; matcha may lower blood pressure, reduce your risk of heart disease, and boost the metabolism. If you love your caffeine but want to cut back on your coffee intake, matcha can help there, too. This now famous drink contains “slow-release” caffeine, energizing drinkers without the risk of a coffee crash; in other words, a focused, calm energy. Health-conscious celebrities such as Hayley Bieber and Gwyneth Paltrow are often seen with a warm or cold matcha in hand.

Electrolyte Water

Drinking water that has been enhanced with charged minerals known as electrolytes. Electrolytes are minerals that conduct electricity when dissolved in water.

You may have heard the word “electrolyte” associated with the eating plans that famous sports stars follow, or know the phrase from times when you’ve been ill and needed to consume more of them to maintain balance within your body. Electrolytes help control your fluid balance, regulate blood pressure, help muscles contract (including the heart), and support the correct acidity of the blood (pH). Electrolyte drinks, including water, are frequently marketed with sports themes and to athletes, thanks to the fact that sweating during exercise causes a loss of electrolytes, which must be replenished. Electrolyte water is also often part of the cold or flu recovery process. Sometimes referred to as alkaline or mineral water, these drinks usually contain sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

Loaded Water

A catchall term for any water-based drink that includes additives or flavorings like fruit cubes or pulp, some vegetables, coconut water, or herbs.

Loaded water is a simplified version of the fruit mocktail and even easier to make. Whatever is in the loaded water determines its taste and nutritional value. Cucumber and lemon water may taste fresh and sharp, and aid digestion and minimize bloating. Strawberries and blackberries will give the water a sweeter flavour and provide fiber and antioxidants. Depending on the drinker's preferences, liquid water could be made using electrolyte water, coconut water, or still or sparkling water.

Poppi Prebiotic Soda

A modern, healthy soda that combines 5g of sugar, delicious ingredients, and prebiotics to give drinkers the soda experience without the health drawbacks.

Soda drinkers love the taste but know the truth: drinking an excess of overly sweet soda drinks is bad for your health. Poppi soda provides a soda alternative for the health-conscious because the company believes that being healthy shouldn't be bland. Poppi provides the “soda experience” without all the sugar and other chemicals that can add to the body. It has the added benefit of probiotics from agave inulin and cassava root fiber, apple cider vinegar in small amounts (which has a range of health benefits), and a total calorie count of 35 calories or less. The branding on the cans is beautiful, making it a favourite of celebrities, Instagram creators, and TikTokkers everywhere.

Better Health Sip by Sip

These five drinks are favoured by health-conscious people for a reason; they don't just help you maintain your health; they can actually help improve it, too. Supplementing your water intake with any of these is a smart, healthy choice.
