Israeli tourism to Slovakia is recording a sharp surge. Data from the Slovak Tourism Bureau in Israel show that 16,926 Israelis traveled to Slovakia in August, compared with 5,562 in the same period last year, marking a 204% increase. The surging trend has been intensifying over recent summer months, with a 148% increase recorded this past June and 203.7% in July. Overall, from January to August of this year, the number of Israeli tourists to Slovakia has more than doubled, and the total number of visitors to the country since the beginning of the year stands at more than double the figure for 2025.
Against the backdrop of this growth and the importance it attributes to the Israeli market, the national tourism bureau SLOVAKIA TRAVEL has hired an Israeli representation company, Tranova, which specializes in representing foreign tourism offices, and has launched tourism representation and marketing activities for Slovakia in Israel. As part of this activity, Tranova has published an innovative digital magazine on travel options in Slovakia, established a website to build the "Slovakia Curious Club" community, and initiated activities targeting airlines and the Israeli tourism industry.
Last week, the Slovak Tourism Bureau held its first webinar for the Israeli public, featuring tourism experts, journalists, and tour guides, with dozens of members of Israel's tourism community participating. The director of the Israeli market at the Slovak Tourism Bureau, Dr. Loretta Pinke, said during the webinar, "Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to get to know the Israeli market and work with local tourism experts. I am pleased to announce that Slovakia is enjoying great success in the Israeli market, and we are seeing an increase of about 200% in Israeli tourism this past summer. It is very important to note that Slovakia is not only a summer destination, but has much to offer in all four seasons of the year. This coming winter, you can find breathtaking snowy landscapes in Slovakia, Christmas markets, festivals and events, winter sports, and wonderful spa resorts. In addition, you are welcome to visit ancient castles, UNESCO sites, and also many sites of impressive and fascinating Jewish heritage."
Air connectivity between Israel and Slovakia is also expanding, allowing Israelis to explore different parts of the country. In addition to the five weekly flights operated by Wizz Air to Bratislava, charter flights from Tel Aviv to Poprad-Tatry, in the High Tatras region, are scheduled to operate this coming winter, to be operated by Overseas.
Slovakia offers a diverse range of vacation options within a single country: An urban trip in Bratislava among the Old City alleys, the castle, and the capital's cafes; a vacation in the Tatra Mountains and the Liptov region, featuring nature trails in the summer and ski resorts in the winter; and visits to castles, historical towns, and thermal baths. The country also features a fascinating Jewish heritage. The "Jewish Route" in Slovakia connects synagogues, cemeteries, and community sites across the country. Among the prominent sites is the grave of the Chatam Sofer, which offers insight into the story of one of the greatest rabbis and the Jewish community that operated in the city.
