Astronomer CEO Andy Byron resigned from his position following a Coldplay concert in which he was caught having an affair with Astronomer's HR chief Kristin Cabot, Astronomer announced on Saturday.
Byron and Cabot attended the concert on Wednesday night together. During the show, the jumbotron camera moved from couple to couple during a kiss cam moment and landed on them, prompting them to swiftly try to hide their faces.
The couple was seen interlocking their fingers as Byron was holding Cabot from behind at the concert in Boston.
Byron's resignation
In a statement posted on X/Twitter, Astronomer reaffirmed its commitment to the values and culture that have shaped the company since its founding.
"Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met," the company said. "Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted it. The Board will now begin the search for our next Chief Executive as Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO."
Astronomer acknowledged the shift in public attention but emphasized that its mission remains unchanged.
"Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI," the company stated. "While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not. We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers solve their toughest data and AI challenges."
