Singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom confirmed this week, following rumors, that they had split after nine years together.
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” their reps said in a statement given to Page Six on Thursday. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
The pair were engaged but an informed source told Page Six, “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
The source claimed things had been rocky for some time in the pair’s relationship.
Katy Perry's divorce from Russell Brand
Perry was previously married to Russell Brand, a British actor facing charges of sexual assault in the UK following allegations made by multiple women.
Perry and Brand had dated for only four months before the engagement announcement in 2010, according to US Weekly. After just over a year of marriage, they called it quits in 2012.
"Katy doesn't think Russell respects her parents' Christian beliefs or her friends," a source told US Weekly at the time. "She was like, 'F*** you. I'm going to do my own thing.' Russell replied, 'Fine, f*** you too.'"
