The Jerusalem Post email account was spammed on Sunday night with dozens of emails containing the exact same message from numerous accounts that are allegedly from southern Syria, asking for help on behalf of the Druze population.
The content of the same email sent multiple times contains the text written in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.
"We appeal to you from Sweida, southern Syria, amid a brutal campaign of systematic violence against the Druze community," the message said. "Government forces and allied militias are committing atrocities: killing children and women, burning homes, destroying hospitals, blocking aid, and executing young men."
The email also warned that social media is "being weaponized to spread dangerous disinformation," mentioning Facebook in particular and saying that such posts are being done by "propaganda accounts."
Facts being twisted, the message says
"Facts are being twisted to falsely portray us, the victims, as the terrorists. Deceptive videos are published showing kidnapped Druze being 'treated well,' only for them to be tortured and executed off-camera," the email continues. "Devices stolen from our martyrs are used to post fake content, exposing more people to risk. This is digital warfare aiding physical extermination."
"Digital silence is complicity when it empowers genocide," the message concluded.
