Good view? Great location? Rooftop pool? Tel Aviv’s historic Elkonin Hotel delivers on all and is in full swing this season.

Following an extensive restoration by Bar Orian Architects and a thoughtful interior redesign that honors its early 20th-century Tel Avivian roots, the storied property has reemerged as a sought-after destination, seamlessly blending timeless charm with modern luxury for travelers of all kinds.

Since reopening after 80 years in December 2022, Elkonin has experienced some growing pains while refining its in-house restaurant and adjusting to staff changes amid a challenging backdrop of current events. Nonetheless, the team appears to have found its stride with the current offering.

Elkonin offers 44 thoughtfully designed rooms across five categories, including two elegant suites. Each space features unique furnishings and design elements in a clean, bright aesthetic, paired with all the modern comforts discerning travelers expect.

Some rooms face the sea, while others overlook the street and include quaint balconies.

Rates start at NIS 1,300 per night on weekdays and NIS 1,530 on weekends, including breakfast. Looking to splurge? The top-floor Malka Suite – named after the wife of the hotel’s original founder – is available for NIS 9,000 for a weekend stay this summer and boasts sweeping sea views, an oversized king bed, and a private living room.

Breakfast, curated by Chef Eviatar Malka, is available to both guests and walk-ins (150 NIS per person). This is one of the better Tel Aviv hotel sit-down breakfasts. You’ll enjoy a basket of fresh bread and pastries to start alongside tea, coffee, and freshly squeezed juice, as well as a seasonal, vegetable-forward menu including shakshuka and avocado toast.

Guests can unwind at the rooftop infinity pool – complete with sweeping Mediterranean views and bar service – or explore other amenities like the inner courtyard, fitness center, hammam, lobby bar, and the new Elkonin Café, offering sandwiches and sweet treats for takeaway.

For elevated kosher fish and dairy dining, the hotel’s upscale Rova Alef restaurant delivers a refined culinary experience. And for a true reset, indulge at the luxurious spa operated by the French brand Clarins.

Elkonin proudly hosts the very first Clarins Spa in Israel, bringing the legacy of the renowned French skincare brand to Tel Aviv. Known for its personalized, results-driven approach, Clarins offers an extensive menu of face and body treatments, all delivered in a tranquil atmosphere.

Among the highlights is the “Elkonin Signature Treatment,” developed especially for the hotel. This 60-minute experience (NIS 750) marries expert techniques with cutting-edge ingredients to revive tired, lackluster skin, restoring radiance, softness, and a healthy glow.

It’s the ideal treatment for those seeking rejuvenation and visible improvement in skin tone and texture.

For men, the spa offers a tailored Revitalizing Facial Treatment (60 minutes, NIS 650), which targets hydration, energy, and purification. Designed to smooth skin and reduce wrinkles and dark circles, it’s a thoughtful option for modern skincare needs.

I personally indulged in the Classic Swedish Massage (50 minutes, NIS 490). In one word: heaven.

Details into the spa experience provided

The spa features five treatment rooms, including a couples’ suite and three with private showers. Each room is outfitted with adjustable heated beds, ambient music, and customizable lighting to suit your treatment and mood.

For a boutique property, the spa feels impressively spacious and serene, beautifully designed and operated by a warm, professional team.

Guests of both the hotel and spa can enjoy access to the rooftop infinity pool, making it easy to unwind between meetings, treatments, or beach strolls. Whether you’re in town for a weekend getaway, a spa day with friends, or a business trip, Elkonin’s polished, upscale atmosphere makes it a smart and stylish choice for any occasion.
