The Dan Accadia Resort has completed a NIS 75 million ($19.8 m.) makeover of its seaside Chalet complex, refreshing 90 garden-level and terrace rooms and adding five signature suites as the flagship hotel positions itself for the next wave of luxury tourism, the Dan Hotels chain announced on Monday.

The renovation marks the first full overhaul of the Chalet wing since it was designed in the 1960s by architect Heinz Fenchel, better known for his Bauhaus-influenced cinema sets in pre-state Tel Aviv, whose original red-tiled structures helped define the resort’s low-rise aesthetic.

Each of the 40 sq.m. garden rooms now opens onto a private lawn facing the Mediterranean and the resort pool, while 35 sq.m. terrace rooms feature newly styled balconies with unobstructed sea views.

Bathrooms have been redesigned to include dressing areas, walk-in showers with built-in seating, freestanding bathtubs, and twin vanities. Smart-glass partitions allow guests to toggle between full privacy and open vistas.

Custom furnishings sourced worldwide sit alongside original Israeli art, including works by sculptor Ohad Meromi and installation artist Gal Weinstein, creating what the hotel calls “a dialogue between heritage and contemporary Israeli design.”

Landscape architect Kfir Fisher reimagined the surrounding gardens and pool deck with imported natural stone pathways and Mediterranean flora to better blur the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces.

More upgrades on the way

Beyond the Chalet, Dan Accadia is refurbishing its main entrance, reception hall, and VIP lounge and will add a Minnie fashion boutique accessible to both hotel guests and the public later this year, the chain said.

Project leadership included Dan Hotels’ chief architect, Roni Federmann; deputy head of technical services, Esti Robinson; and project manager, Tzachi Dovaks.

“We invested heavily to ensure the Accadia remains Israel’s leading address for a quiet, high-end getaway, because true luxury is not a display; it’s a state of mind,” Shlomi Tahan, CEO of Dan Hotels, said in the press release.

The facelift comes as Israel’s coastal resorts compete for a rebound in international leisure travel following last year’s conflict with Iran and continuing tensions in Gaza.

Industry analysts say high-spend tourists are gravitating toward smaller, villa-style accommodations rather than high-rise towers, an area where Dan Accadia’s Chalet wing gives the chain a competitive edge.

Dan Hotels operates 18 properties across Israel and one in Bangalore and has pursued an aggressive renewal program in recent years, including revamps of the King David Jerusalem and Dan Tel Aviv.

With its latest investment, the company signals confidence in Herzliya’s luxury segment, where average daily room rates have climbed by double digits since 2023, according to Tourism Ministry data.
