Israel assassinated a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force Unit 840 commander in Lebanon, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and IDF reported Thursday.

Hasin Mahmoud Marshad al-Jawahiri was a central figure in the Quds Force intelligence unit, which managed much of the terrorism against Israel emanating from Lebanon and Syria, they said.

The Jerusalem Post has learned that Jawahiri was a highly professional intelligence agent with many unusual abilities beyond those of even typical elite Quds Force terrorist agents.

Furthermore, the Post understands that Jawahiri never permanently left the Lebanon-Syria area, even after Israel had managed to kill other senior Quds Force officials and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Rather, the Post has learned that Jawahiri was targeted only now, and not earlier this year, because a unique opportunity presented itself.

Israel said it views all attempts by Iran to pursue terrorism against Israelis and Jews with great severity.

IDF kills additional Hezbollah terrorist

The IDF struck and killed a Hezbollah terrorist operating in the area of Al-Jumayjimah in southern Lebanon earlier on Thursday, the military confirmed.

The terrorist was working towards restoring Hezbollah's terror infrastructures in the area.

"The terrorist’s activities constituted a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon," the military's statement concluded.
