An IDF reservist riding an ATV ran over a Palestinian man praying on the side of the road in the village of Deir-Jarir near Ramallah in the West Bank, the military confirmed in a Thursday evening statement.

A video of the incident circulating online shows the reservist armed and wearing civilian clothing.

The IDF further explained that it had received a report of "gunfire carried out by an Israeli civilian" in Deir-Jarir earlier in the day, and that initial investigations showed that the two incidents were carried out by the same person.

The reservist's firearm has been confiscated, the IDF affirmed in its statement, and noted that the reservist's service had been terminated "due to the severity of the incidents."

"The IDF strongly condemns and views any act of violence seriously, demanding that its soldiers and commanders act in accordance with the values of the IDF spirit," the statement ended. Claims regarding casualties are being investigated.

IDF detains suspects planning terror attack in West Bank raids

The IDF conducted operations in the West Bank overnight, detaining multiple suspects involved in terrorism-related activities, including the planning of a terror attack, the IDF announced on Thursday morning.

The four individuals who were planning the attack were apprehended in the Jayus area, near Kalkilya, the IDF said.

Additionally, in separate incidents, the military stated that three suspects were arrested in the Kifl Haris and Deir Istiya areas for throwing rocks at a main route.

All detainees were transferred to the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) for further questioning.

"The security forces continue operating to thwart terrorism in the area and against anyone who harms or attempts to harm Israeli civilians and the security forces," the IDF concluded.
