Defense Ministry sappers destroyed hundreds of decades-old Syrian ammunition recently removed from a former Syrian outpost, Ein Almin, located in the Israeli territory of the Golan Heights.

The clearance process of the ammunition concluded with a controlled detonation of the munitions at the Nafah firing zone.

These munitions included grenades, mortar shells, rocket-propelled grenades, and Kalashnikov rifles.

The outpost was open during the Sukkot holiday after it was cleared of ammunition and unexploded ordnance.

The Ein Almin outpost was abandoned by the Syrian army during the Six Day War. It had been one of the largest Syrian military positions in the region.
