Four young suspects were arrested on Sunday night on suspicion of vandalizing headstones and causing damage to a cemetery near Jerusalem’s Old City, Israel Police stated on Monday.
The suspects, foreign residents aged 18 to 20, were taken for questioning and will be brought to court on Monday for a remand hearing, police said.
“Damaging headstones is a serious and unacceptable act,” the Israel Police said, adding that officers “will act firmly, decisively and without compromise against anyone who chooses to harm holy places and the fabric of life in the city.”
Young suspect arrested for possession of narcotics in Netanya
In another case, Israel Police on Sunday also found large quantities of suspected narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, “dosa,” MDMA pills, LSD blotters, cannabis, and thousands of shekels in cash in a Netanya apartment while investigating a missing persons case.
A suspect in his 20s from Kfar Yona was arrested, questioned at Shdot station, and jailed. Police said they would seek a remand extension.
