Personnel from Lahav 433's Gideonim Unit, together with the IDF and Shin Bet, arrested a man in the heart of the market in Nablus who was suspected of being involved in attacks and planting explosives against security forces, the police said on Monday.

The police statement explained how the suspect was "affiliated with the Fatah movement, defined as a dangerous terrorist operative and had connections to the terrorist organization 'Lions' Den'".

"The arrest was carried out as part of an operation by the Judea and Samaria Division, based on accurate intelligence received by the Shin Bet, which led the forces to the target. A knife was seized during a search of the wanted man. There were no casualties among our forces," the police added.

Second Gideonim arrest in a month

This was the second arrest of its type, carried out in broad daylight and deep in the West Bank by the Lahav 433 special operations unit.

Last month, Israeli security forces arrested a wanted individual in Ramallah who is suspected of carrying out multiple shooting attacks against civilians and security forces.

Police noted at the time that the suspect resisted arrest and was shot in the leg before being subdued. He received initial medical treatment and was taken into custody.
