Two minors were indicted after allegedly carrying out a series of break-ins at a synagogue, a residence, and a supermarket in Bnei Brak over recent months, police announced on Monday.

According to police, the suspects allegedly stole silver items worth about NIS 100,000 from a synagogue safe. The stolen items were later recovered and returned to the synagogue. Prosecutors also requested that the suspects remain under house arrest until the end of legal proceedings.

The police said the investigation began after officers received three complaints regarding break-ins at multiple locations in Bnei Brak.

According to the investigation, the two suspects allegedly broke into a synagogue on Aharonovitch Street in June, entered the rabbi's office, and forced open the safe where the stolen silver items were being kept.

Investigators also allege that in May the suspects broke into a residence on Yarden Street after smashing a window and stole cash and a checkbook from the building's secretariat office.

In April, the pair allegedly entered a supermarket on Aharonovitch Street and stole snacks and drink cans.

Investigation led to arrests

Following the collection of evidence, investigators from the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan police station identified and arrested the suspects, two Bnei Brak residents aged 14 and 16.

Police said the silver items stolen from the synagogue were located during the investigation and returned to the place of worship.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the Tel Aviv District Police juvenile prosecution unit filed an indictment against the two minors.

The charges include breaking into a place of worship and a residence, theft committed together, breaking into a non-residential building and committing theft, intentional property damage, trespassing, and criminal trespassing together.

Prosecutors requested that the suspects remain under house arrest until the end of the proceedings.
