Former hostage Emily Damari, and her girlfriend, social media influencer Danielle Amit, got engaged this week, Israeli media reported on Thursday.
A video circulating on social media showed Damari, dressed in white, getting down on one knee to propose to Amit at an event marking the anniversary of her release from Hamas's terror captivity in the Gaza Strip.
Damari and Amit publicly announced their relationship in June 2025.
Damari, who also holds British citizenship, revealed in a May 2025 interview with N12 that she had hidden her preference for women from her Hamas captors. "From their perspective, it's a sickness," she said at the time.
Damari added that she had questioned her Hamas captor about what he would do if he discovered his brother was gay, to which he responded that he would "murder him."
She also revealed that during captivity, she was questioned why she wasn't married, answering that she kept to herself.
Kidnapped from Kfar Aza, released 500 days later
Damari was kidnapped by Hamas from her home in Kfar Aza on October 7, 2023, alongside her friends, twins Gali and Ziv Berman.
She was released from Hamas captivity 500 days later in January 2025 alongside former hostages Romi Gonen and Doron Steinbrecher.
