A 22-year-old Israeli woman was rescued from Jericho in Area A of the West Bank by Israeli forces, Maariv reported late Wednesday night.

The Israeli Civil Administration received reports of the woman wandering around the city of Jericho, which is under the control of the Palestinian Authority, and sent officers from the Jericho Coordination and Liaison Directorate to retrieve her.

The woman was then handed over to the IDF to be transported out of Area A, and the case was handed over to the Israel Police for investigation.

Maariv reported that an initial investigation into the incident indicated that the woman mistakenly ended up in Jericho while intending to travel to a different destination

Security forces additionally issued a reminder that entering Area A is prohibited by law and potentially life-threateningly dangerous.

Multiple Israelis recently rescued from Area A

Over the past weeks, multiple Israelis have been rescued from Area A after unintentionally and in some incidents, intentionally, entering the PA-controlled area.

On Sunday, three Jewish Israelis similarly entered Jericho after making a navigational mistake before being rescued.

Two additional Israelis entered Area A on Sunday while under the influence of alcohol.

The two were spotted entering a garage in Tulkarm, which was reported to the Civil Administration. They were subsequently turned over to the IDF for transport out of the West Bank, before the incident was handed over to the Israel Police for further investigation.

At least six additional incidents of Israelis entering Area A also occurred in December 2025.
