Tal Maor, father of the late Aviv Maor, recalled the moment when he found his daughter "beautiful, covered in blood, and unresponsive" after the Route 71 terror attack in northern Israel last week, during a Tuesday interview with Yinon Magal and Ben Caspit on 103fm.
“She was lying there as if she was asleep, so beautiful, covered in blood and unresponsive," Maor said while recalling the events of that day. “Uri, a friend of Aviv, was with her and called my wife, Einat. He told her Aviv was being stabbed."
Maor said he then received a call from his wife and rushed towards the Tel Yosef junction, where he found his lifeless daughter. "I ran, I couldn't see the road, I called the police, and I told them to send as many troops as possible there, [saying] 'my daughter is being stabbed.'”
He recalled how he arrived before the police and saw his daughter in a “state of shock,” and added, “I shook her, I screamed, I looked for signs of life and [found] nothing.”
Aviv was a ray of light, full of smiles
Maor also described his daughter as a “ray of light,” saying that she “knew exactly what she needed to be happy."
He also told the interviewers that her daughter, who worked as a lifeguard and loved to swim, was looking forward to his upcoming military service.
“She was supposed to be in Ramat David in the air force in two weeks. Everything worked out for her in the best way, at her peak in every way," he said.
Terror attack in northern Israel
Aviv was one of the two victims of the terror attack in northern Israel last week, where Shimshon Mordechai, a 68-year-old resident of Beit She'an, was also killed.
The first victim was run over and killed by terrorist Ahmed Abu al-Rov near Beit She'an. The terrorist then fled in a vehicle, exiting it to stab 18-year-old Maor on Route 71.
The terrorist continued driving before being neutralized and captured outside of Afula. He was released from Emek Medical Center in Afula on Saturday and transferred into police custody.
