A Palestinian toddler was injured by stone-throwing perpetrated by Jewish rioters on Wednesday evening near Hebron, the IDF stated.
Until this moment, five suspects were arrested after the IDF and police forces responded to a call overnight to the Sa'ir village, next to Hebron, following reports of the violence committed by Israeli civilians toward a Palestinian home, the IDF highlighted.
As a consequence of the incident, the injured Palestinian toddler was evacuated for medical treatment.
According to the IDF, upon arrival, the IDF didn't initially identify the suspects.
After conducting an in-depth investigation in the area, police arrested five suspects and took them in for further questioning.
Settler violence in the West Bank rises
On Tuesday, Jewish settlers beat and slaughtered animals belonging to a Palestinian family, members of which were also assaulted, in the West Bank, Army Radio reported.
According to the IDF, soldiers and police forces attended to a call from the Samua area, following a report that "several Israeli civilians had slaughtered livestock and vandalized property on a Palestinian plot of land."
The IDF registered three Palestinians injured during the incident, who were evacuated for medical treatment.
On Sunday, attorney Omer Nahmani, head of the Returning with Wisdom NGO and former spokesman for Democratic Union chairman Yair Golan, sent a letter to Shin Bet chief David Zini, urging the Shin Bet to act after
three Jews linked with the Hilltop Youth movement allegedly attacked a pregnant Arab woman in Jaffa.
In the letter, the attorney warned that settler violence is being shifted from the West Bank into Israel’s cities.
The letter followed an incident in which a woman was allegedly attacked while sitting in her car with her five-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter.
In November, a group of Jewish settlers in the West Bank set fire to and vandalized a Palestinian mosque near Salfit, north of Ramallah.
Graffiti containing racist remarks was found on the walls of the mosque, which included messages to IDF Central Command Chief Avi Bluth, who referred to Jewish violence against Palestinians as terrorism.
The graffiti read, “Not afraid of Avi Bluth.” Other messages read, “Keep condemning,” “He will repay His enemies,” and “Muhammad is a pig.”
Violence has escalated in the West Bank since the beginning of the war in Gaza in October 2023. Attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank have increased sharply, with the UN reporting the highest number of attacks on record in October.
