Former CrazyLabs Co-Founder Oran Kushnir Joins Arcademy to Transform Minecraft and Roblox into Next-Gen Learning Platforms
Oran Kushir, former co-founder of Crazylabs, is now a director and investor in Arcademy, an Israeli start-up aiming to revolutionize education by transforming gaming platforms like Minecraft and Roblox into engaging tools for children’s learning and development.
Kushnir is not a stranger to the tech world, and he has founded several educational technology start-ups, such as Game of Education, Uranus Technologies, Ortech Mobile, Cognitive Media Innovations, and others.
Oran's journey from CrazyLabs to Arcademy
His most notable achievement, CrazyLabs, became one of the world's leading mobile game publishers. According to Globes, CrazyLabs ranked third globally in mobile game downloads in 2020, with 4.5 billion downloads and over 110 million monthly active users. Between July 2020 and June 2021, the company generated a gross profit of $153 million.
“The move from co-founding CrazyLabs to joining Arcademy felt like a natural progression,” Kushnir told The Post. “Today, two of my ventures focus on creating content for Minecraft and Roblox, helping shape the educational and gaming landscapes of these platforms.”
Kushnir said the connection with Arcademy was instant. “It felt natural—like it was simply meant to be. The energy and vision of Arcademy are truly inspiring,” he added.
Kushnir explained that transforming popular gaming platforms into effective educational tools presents a complex challenge.
What makes Arcademy unique?
Kusmjor told the Post that, “there are excellent platforms like Roblox and Minecraft that can be used to create meaningful educational content,” he said. “But too often, this content fails to reach students effectively because it’s not fully integrated into the school system. The complexity alone can be a major barrier.”
“That’s where Arcademy truly stands out,” Kushnir continued. “It operates at the intersection of gaming and education—a space that barely existed just a few years ago. This is Arcademy’s niche, and honestly, there’s very little competition. They’re pioneering something entirely new.”
According to Arcademy’s press release, one of the key differentiators of the platform is that it allows teachers to track individual student progress in real time, identify where students are struggling, and deliver targeted solutions to help them improve.
Arcademy's next potential moves
Kushnir’s arrival at Arcademy marks a new chapter for the company, as it deepens its presence in Israeli schools and accelerates its expansion into the US market.
Kushnir told the Post that, “what they’re doing exceptionally well is adapting to the evolving needs and requirements during the US pilot phase—and doing so at remarkable speed,” Kushnir noted. “It’s truly groundbreaking. They’re already leveraging AI-powered assistants in development, which allows for rapid progress. Many companies would move too slowly and miss these opportunities. This team is seizing them.”
Kushnir said his decision to invest in Arcademy stemmed from a shared passion for educational technology.
“That’s part of why I chose to invest—I saw real potential in the team, in the talent, and the founders,” he said. “It’s not every day you come across a team like this.”
