The High Court of Justice granted the prosecution and Attorney-General's Office until next Thursday, July 10, to provide explanations as to why sanctions haven't been properly implemented so far against draft-dodgers.

The larger issue is surrounding the tensions on the lack of a law that would exempt eligible ultra-Orthodox (haredi) men from getting drafted. Such a law expired last June. The tensions boiled over due to the ongoing war in Gaza and the lack of a proper equal draft.

As the government's legal representation, the prosecution will need to provide explanations.

A court hearing on the matter will be scheduled in the near future, reads the decision by Presiding Justices Noam Sohlberg, Dafna Barak-Erez and David Mintz.

This is a developing story.
