The Home Front Command told Israelis to remain ready to go to "optimal shelters" in the early hours of Friday morning, as the country braced for an Iranian response to an Israeli strike on Iran

All gatherings were canceled, and school and non-essential workplaces will remain closed on Friday, as the country moved into a state of emergency.

What did the Home Front Command say to do?

The Home Front Command said that those with a mamad (home safe room) or miklat (building bomb shelter) should prepare to shelter there, while others should seek to shelter in public bomb shelters.

Those who are not able to reach any of those options should prepare to shelter in stairwells, the Home Front Command said.

These orders were in effect from 3 a.m. Friday, through Saturday night, as of early Friday morning.

El Al announced that its flights to and from the country were canceled as Israel's airspace was closed.

This is a developing story.
