Global Sumud Flotilla activist Greta Thunberg will be deported to Greece on Monday, flotilla activists announced on X/Twitter.

"Greta Thunberg set to be released tomorrow. To arrive in Greece,” the activists' post read.

Greece will pay for the flight, with 27 Greek activists also being deported on the same flight, Ynet reported. The activists to be deported on Monday also include 28 French citizens, 15 Italians, and nine Swedes, Agence France-Presse reported.

"Upon instructions from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, tomorrow, Monday, October 6, 2025, a special flight will depart from the nearby Eilat-Ramon International Airport to safely return the Greek citizens to Athens on the same day," the Greek Foreign Ministry said.

However, Greece's statement did not acknowledge if Thunberg would be aboard the flight.

Thunberg allegedly subjected to harsh treatment in Israel

Thunberg accused Israel of subjecting her to harsh treatment following Israeli forces' interception of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla, according to a report by The Guardian.

The Swedish foreign ministry said in an email that Thunberg talked to an official who visited her and said that she is being held in a cell infested with bedbugs, with little food and water.

The email, which was disclosed by The Guardian, read, "The embassy has been able to meet with Greta. She informed of dehydration. She has received insufficient amounts of both water and food. She also stated that she had developed rashes, which she suspects were caused by bedbugs. She spoke of harsh treatment and said she had been sitting for long periods on hard surfaces.”

Another flotilla member reported to have had his photograph taken while being forced to hold flags, the nationality of which were undisclosed, the report stated.

Spanish flotilla activist bites Israeli medical staff

A Spanish national detained after travelling on a vessel as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla was accused by Israel Police of biting a female medical staff member at Ketziot Prison on Sunday.

The staff member had been escorting the Spanish national as part of a routine medical examination ahead of her deportation on Monday when she was said to have bitten the worker.

The medical worker was given treatment onsite for the minor injuries caused by the bite and Israel Police were called to handle the attacker. It is currently unknown if legal action will be pursued.
