An Oregon Antifa group proposed that aligned activists leverage diverse stances on Israel among right-wing factions in order to divide them in the wake of the assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk.

Corvallis Antifascists published an analysis of unity in the right manifesting at vigils for Kirk, noting that fault lines remained between TPUSA supporters and the far-right Groyper movement.

During the so-called “Groyper Wars”, Christian nationalist Nick Fuentes and his followers attempted to disrupt TPUSA events by heckling and asking speakers provocative questions, including those about Israel, and the Antifa cell believed that these divisions could be reignited.

Corvallis Antifa identified that elements had set aside these ideological differences and participated in memorials for Kirk, and the far-left cell said that it was necessary to address “Neo-Nazi street movements” working “to enter the MAGA fold.”

“Antifascists must work to find more creative ways to counter this political moment. One option may be working to drive wedges between different segments of the right,” wrote Corvallis Antifa. “One possibly useful wedge issue in this context is Israel.”

Antifa points fingers

The Antifa group explained that after Kirk’s murder, some far-right commentators had developed conspiracy theories in which the Mossad had assassinated the conservative activist because he had supposedly begun to reorient himself against Israel or Jewish people.

Journalist Andy Ngo, who first reported the Antifa analysis on Wednesday, said on X/Twitter that the movement was attempting to change its strategy to “divide and conquer” after protests against rallies in Kirk’s memory had resulted in “unequivocal optical and tactical failures.”

“They admit fearing the loss of their ability to mark conservatives for death with no pushback – especially as some apolitical institutions, groups, and businesses now feel safer expressing sympathy to Kirk’s family and supporters,” said Ngo, who has been covering Antifa for years and has himself been attacked and threatened with death by Antifa activists.

After slogans associated with Antifa were discovered engraved on bullet casings of cartridges used by Kirk’s killer, and Vice President JD Vance and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller indicated that they would crack down on far-left networks promoting violence, President Donald Trump said that he would designate Antifa as a terrorist organization.

“I am pleased to inform our many USA Patriots that I am designating Antifa, a sick, dangerous, radical left disaster, as a major terrorist organization,” Trump said in a Wednesday Truth Social post. “I will also be strongly recommending that those funding Antifa be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.”
