Multiple people were hospitalized after being stabbed at a Walmart in northern Michigan, local news reported on Saturday afternoon.

According to Fox News, the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Traverse City stabbing, with one suspect already in custody.

Eleven people are currently being treated at Munson Healthcare, the hospital confirmed in a social media post.

"We are working with local authorities and emergency services to ensure the best possible care for those impacted," the hospital said. "We ask for the public's patience and understanding as we manage this increased demand."

According to CNN, Shea said during a press conference that the victims were attacked at random and that the attacker "acted alone at this time. There is no information indicating there were additional suspects."

FBI agents are also responding to the site for added support in the ongoing investigation, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a post on X/Twitter.

In a statement on X, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said that she is in touch with the police and is monitoring the situation closely.

"Our thoughts are with the victims and the community reeling from this brutal act of violence," she wrote. "I am grateful to the first responders for their swift response to apprehend the suspect."

This is a developing story.
