Nearly 25 years ago, a rabbi and a businessman bound by friendship and a shared love for Israel, decided to change the course of modern Zionism with a simple conviction: if Jews dreamed of building their lives in Israel, nothing should stand in their way. Together, they founded Nefesh B’Nefesh, with a vision to remove the obstacles to aliyah and to ensure that every oleh not only flourishes personally but also strengthens Israel by filling its most pressing national needs.
To date, Nefesh B’Nefesh has facilitated the aliyah of over 90,000 olim from North America. What began as a grassroots effort to ease bureaucratic hurdles has become a national movement, championing Zionism in practice.
Today, the organization has grown beyond all expectations and advances its mission through four strategic pillars: Aliyah & Integration, National Service, National Development, and Zionist Education. This approach reflects its growth from helping families relocate to shaping Israel’s future, strengthening the periphery, creating solutions for medical shortages, and offering holistic support for lone soldiers and national service volunteers from around the world.
The Gelbart-Fass partnership is grounded in respect, vision, and a commitment to the greater good of the State of Israel. Together, they have transformed Nefesh B’Nefesh into a driver of national solutions and for thousands of families and young pioneers, they have carried the flag of modern Zionism, soul to soul.
