In recent years, renewable energy has been a large source of innovation in Israel. Founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Ofer Yannay, Nofar Energy specializes in renewable energy projects in Israel, especially on kibbutzim, having placed solar panels on thousands of roofs over hundreds of communities. With a market cap of over one billion dollars, the company is one of the most successful Israeli startups to date.

Yannay is the owner of Hapoel Galil Elyon and Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C., leading Tel Aviv to its first appearance in the EuroLeague, the highest basketball competition in Europe. He also serves on the advisory committee of the Or Ofir Foundation, dedicated to developing future leaders of Israel. The foundation’s namesake, Ofir Libstein, served as head of the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council until his murder by Hamas in the Kfar Aza massacre.

Amit Lang

Like Yannay, who has transformed Israel’s renewable energy landscape, Amit Lang is shaping another critical sector for Israel’s future — water.

Under the leadership of Amit Lang, CEO of Mekorot – Israel’s National Water Company – the organization has rapidly modernized Israel’s water sector. He has guided the company through challenging years while ensuring reliable supply nationwide, expanded its international presence, and strengthened its focus on innovation. During his tenure, Mekorot has significantly broadened international collaborations with foreign governments and utilities, while increasing its investments in breakthrough technologies and start-ups. The company today leads projects in desalination, wastewater reuse, and digital water management, staying true to its mission of turning every challenge into an opportunity.

Lang’s path to this role reflects a career of excellence across multiple fields. Before joining Mekorot, he served as Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, held senior roles at the Ministry of Finance, and led business development and external affairs at Partner Communications Ltd. He also served as CEO of EMS Mekorot Projects. Raised in Tel Aviv, he began his journey as a world-class sportsman, winning a bronze medal at the 1990 European Championships and competing at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, before moving into academia and public service.
