Taylor Swift wore a vintage Monterey Bay Aquarium otter conservation t-shirt during a release party movie for her new The Life of a Showgirl album, causing a romp of fans to seek the same shirt from the Californian aquarium, the Associated Press reported.

In just two days, the aquarium raised more than $2 million for sea otter conservation.

The shirt was re-released on Thursday after popular demand, Liz Macdonald, the aquarium’s director of content strategy, told AP.

Averaging $100,000 in sales every 15 minutes, the successful fundraiser collected funds to help injured and orphaned otters. Those who donated at least $65.13 were thanked with the iconic Swiftie shirt.

Opal the otter

“We definitely had a little Taylor Swift dance party in the office yesterday afternoon when we hit the goal,” she said.

The aquarium said it was unsure how Swift acquired the shirt, which has not been manufactured since she was 3 years old, more than 32 years ago.

“One of my favorite theories is that we have a sea otter on our exhibit whose name is Opal, and she was named by the fans through an online poll, and I wonder if Taylor Swift may have been one of the people who voted for the name Opal,” MacDonald said.

The gemstone is the birthstone of Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce.
